Looking for a gravel grind ride in West Texas? West Texas Cycling Association (WTCA) is hosting a gravel ride that starts on the top of the Caprock and heads east into rolling hills for a scenic challenging ride. The ride starts from the small town of Southland approximately 20 miles southeast of Lubbock, Texas or 6 miles southeast of Slaton. There will be 100K and 50K routes that are mostly on gravel or dirt roads with some short sections of rural highways. Conditions can vary with sandy or muddy sections depending on the recent weather. There is a stream crossing of the North Fork of the Double Mountain Fork of The Brazos River (for such a big name the it is often dry at the crossing). For more information on the first annual ride for this event click on the link to Caprock Gravel Grind and you can register for the ride at BikeReg.com.
The cost is $45 for the 100K grind and $35 for the 50K grind. The event will be limited to 200 riders.
The event will be held on Saturday, May, 21st 2022 with the 100K grind beginning at 8:30am and the 50K grind beginning at 9:00am. Online registration is through BikeReg, and there will be no on-site registration.
